It started to evolve,
I perceive the colors to change,
fluctuating from light to dark,
In my dreams I witness horrors,
when I awake they are true.

the proximity of distance,
fractions of time,
bound to a shattered illusion,
corroded cold skin,
closed burning eyes,
losing my mind in reverie,
I can`t find the door,
to escape this maze of life.

the cold blood tinged stream,
curling around mossy stones,
pictures of my mental wealth,
buried beneath this frozen soil,
silence rips apart the hours.

deep waters stir,
tremble silent,
as they float to one,
no stone untouched,
rivers without shore,
cleave their path, collide and rush,
towards the end.

NONE a opéré un virage dans Where Life Should Be et ça se confirme davantage dans Damp Chill of Life. Le temps des métaphores est révolu : l'humidité froide, c'est celle des larmes qui coulent sur le visage à cause de la dépression. Tout pleure dans cet album : les guitares typées DSBM grésillent, les solos ("The Damp Chill of Life", "It's Painless To Let Go") sont liquides et coulent, les voix prennent à la gorge ; même le piano, étranglé par les sanglots ("Cease"), est aphone. Troisième plaie béante de la saga A Fleur de Peau, une flamme pâle, qui ne brûle pas — quand la vie n'est que l'ombre d'elle-même. Le titre de ce chapitre donne le ton. Car la flamme, elle, est là : vous pouvez chercher, je ne pense pas que vous trouverez un album de funeral doom aussi intense que celui-là (peut-être même au sein des A Fleur de Peau ?), notamment grâce aux artistes qui joignent Déhà et qui viennent ajouter une splendeur incommensurable — chant féminin/masculin, saxophone... Guitars sound like flaming lava, riffs melting into one another while moving slowly across everything and destroying everything - the plaintive and bruised cries for help over it all add a weight that sinks you beneath the earth. The sound is as clear as the soul is dark. Jono Schneider
